Panchthupi Riots, Hindus attacked in Murshidabad again

From 14th April Communal Riot started in Panchthupi village and surrounding area of the village under Burwan Police Station of Kandi sub division of Murshidabad district.

This Panchthupi village is a very big village consisting of 18 paras (localities).
The clash started when some Muslim boys spat on the Hindu devotees of Shiva on the day of Charak Puja. These devotees were drinking water from a tube well. The devotees protested resulting in clashes between two groups. Some people from both sides were injured.

The administration intervened. With the initiative of the Officer in Charge of Barwan P.S. and District Magistrate a Peace Committee was formed taking representatives from both communities.

But, on 16th April, suddenly about 300 – 400 Muslims attacked the Hindus. Many Hindu houses and shops were looted and destroyed. Hindu houses were bomb charged indiscriminately. Naru Gopal Mukherjee’s house in Achoa Para and one ex elected Pradhan of Dakshin Para were damaged in the bombing by the Muslims. Many Hindus were injured. Seriously injured persons were admitted to local Hospital. Some injured persons had to transferred to Baharampur District Hospital. About 14 Hindus were injured.

In this attack, Muslims from another village, named Godapara on the other side of the river Mayurakshi (now dry) joined the attackers.

In this large scale bombing, one Hindu youth of 22 years age Sujit Ghosh has been killed at about 11 am on 16.04.10. The bomb was thrown directly on the back of him.

On the same day morning (16.04.10), the Dak Bunglow Market, about 6 km distant from Panchthupi village, was attacked by the Muslim miscreants. A number of shops owned by the Hindus were destroyed and looted. Particularly the shops owned by the Hindus of Panchthupi were targeted. One sweetmeat shop and one stationary shop ‘Sraddhanjali’ were destroyed and looted here.

Hindus are agitated. But police encircled the Hindu villages where mainly Yadav and Sadgope caste people reside. They are fighting castes. But, in general, Hindus are extremely frightened in the whole area. Police and Rapid Action Force are patrolling the villages. Hindus are apprehensive what will happen when he police force will leave the place.

In this, the District Magistrate (D.C.) Mr. Parvez Siddiqi is playing a dirty role to misuse administration in favour of Muslim hooligans.

This Parvez Siddiqi is a most communal govt officer. Since he joined as D.M. in this 67%(projected) Muslim majority district, his behaviour is extremely partisan and communal. He has made it a point to offer Namaz every Friday noon in different Mosques of the Baharampur town and Murshidabad dist. He particularly chooses those mosques which are not visited by many Muslims. His intention is to popularise that mosque and to give encouragement and inspiration to the Mullahs and Imams of those unpopular mosques. His effort became successful. Hindus are very much apprehensive that so long this man will remain at the helm of administration here, how much damage will be done to the Hindus by him.

Out of total 26 Blocks of this predominantly Muslim majority (63.67% in 2001 census), only this Burwan block is Hindu majority block with 59.66% Hindu in 2001. Rest 25 Blocks are Muslim majority in 2001.

Hindus are extremely scared as they know that they live in a de-facto Pakistan. In fact, in 1947, since 15 August, Pakistani Flag hoisted for three days in this district. Every Hindu of this district knows their fate and future. But a total hopelessness and killer passivity are the identity marks of the Hindus here.

HINDU FESTIVAL BY MUSLIM MISCREANTS

A peaceful protest march organized by Hindu Samhati, at the Haringhata Police Station in Nadia district, passed off peacefully on May 5, 2010. Tensions had been simmering in this area over repeated assaults by Muslim miscreants on Hindus attending the Pagol Thakurer Mela, a local Hindu festival.

The procession of approximately 500 people walked 7 km. on a hot day, from Paglatala to Haringhata Police Station. The procession started at 1.30 pm and reached the venue at 3 pm, where it culminated into a protest meeting. Speakers were Tapan Ghosh, Advocate B.N. Roy, Advocate Tushar Kanti Tikader, Susen Biswas and Brahmacharini Smriti Devi. Strong slogans were raised from the procession and the meeting against the Muslim culprits and against police inaction. Thereafter a delegation of 8 members entered the police station and met the officers for detailed discussion on the security of the Hindus.

It was heartening to see that although intimation of the meeting was given to the Inspector In Charge (Subrato Sarkar) of the Police Station, his senior officer S.D.P.O. (Sub Divisional Police Officer) Bhaskar Mukherjee was present there to meet Hindu Samhati protesters . I.C. Subrato Sarkar was present too.

Even though there were some disagreements of over the facts mentioned in the memorandum, the S.D.P.O. took the protester's representation seriously, explained them in detail about the steps taken by the police to ensure safety and security of the Hindus.

They were also touched by the presence of a large number of people travelled long distances under the scorching sun, to express their grievances. Hindu Samhati protesters stressed that it is the duty of the administration to act impartially to satisfy these people.

The S.D.P.O. assured everyone that police would do its duty in bringing the culprits to justice.

The protesters were encouraged by the turnout and solidarity shown by the Hindu community of Haringhata. They vowed to continue their struggle against the continued aggression and attacks by Muslims.

They are the sons of the soil in this Birbhum district of West Bengal. They are Hindu tribal people. They have lived in this region since time immemorial. They used to live here in peace with the forest as their neighbour. They are not ambitious. They are not greedy. Their need is meager. They are hardworking. Their only assets are the neighbouring forests and their hard labour. Here the land is rocky and the yield is very little. And they were satisfied with it. They owned this rocky land.


This rocky land turned a curse for them. Of course 2 additional factors contributed in this curse:


(1) their innocence and (2) growing demand of stone and stone chips for our urban civilization. Especially the roads and real estate industry.


So the greedy men came from the cities and towns and converted the rocks and the land into quarries. They set up Stone Crushers for making stone chips to be transported to cities and towns. The environment of the area changed. The clear sky became covered with stone dust. This dust smothered the crops. The tribal people lost their livelihood. Hence they were compelled to take up jobs in those quarries and crushers as labourers.


Their harmony with nature was lost. Consumption of alcohol increased. Various diseases including Tuberculosis due to stone dust affected their health. Their social fabric got strained.


The work for the owners for those quarries and stone crushers was not easy. Because, according to the law of our country, the Tribal people’s land are not saleable to non tribals, the nature of forest land is inconvertible. Moreover, obtaining clearance from Pollution Control Board is almost impossible fulfilling all its conditions. So, the owners opted for illegal methods of fraudulence and bribing the govt. officers. 20-30 years back, Sindhi people were owners of these units. Slowly they made way for the Muslims in this business. These Muslim owners proved to be much more efficient in this fraud and all types of illegal and immoral methods. Hence the business increased manifold in their hand. Now there are about 150 quarry and 1200 stone crushers in the whole of Birbhum district. Ninety percent of those are owned by Muslims. Among those, only 35 quarries and 231 crushers are licensed.


These owners brought Muslim managers, labour supervisors and a large number of Muslim labourers from nearby Murshidabad district. In Mohammadbazar block, one noted antisocial Seikh Kamaal Khan took the lead. Once upon a time, a petty criminal Kamaal Khan now owns at least 3 quarries and a number of stone crushers, of course by all fraudulent and illegal means. Local people believe that this Kamaal Khan is in regular contact with ISI of Pakistan.


These Muslim owners, managers, supervisors and labour contractors set their greedy eyes on the healthy tribal women and girls. It was really difficult for the poor tribal people to protect the honour of their womenfolk from the lust of these rich and powerful Muslims. It is most unfortunate but true that all concerned govt. and police officers take illegal money from these Muslims. So, the administration put a blind eye to these atrocities. For these hapless tribal people, in the words of Rabindranath Tagore “bicharer bani nirabe nibhrite kande”.

Moreover, the huge stock of explosives, which are used to blast the rocks, often creates unwanted explosions killing innocent tribal people and damaging the houses (in fact huts) of the poor tribals. On 5 February, a huge explosion in Kamaal Khan’s quarry damaged many houses of the tribal people in vicinity. When they protested, Khan brought criminals from outside to hurl bombs on those protesters to make them silent. This time the tribal people were not cowed down because their backs had been pushed to wall. So, they offered resistance to these criminals and their backer Kamaal Khan. Then only, the govt. administration had been compelled to intervene and shut down that illegal quarry of Khan.


To save the honour of the women, the leaders of the tribal community made some rules to be obeyed by all. One such rule is : no outsider will enter in any tribal locality after 6 pm. The reason is obvious. But many loose character Muslims were not inclined to obey the restriction. One Bashirul Sheikh of Muslim dominated Kapasdanga village was one of them.
Despite repeated warnings, he ventured regularly in one tribal village Baromasia at night. On 19 April at 12 midnight, when he was involved in immoral act, Debu Soren allegedly hit upon his shoulder with an axe. Bashirul died on the spot.


Later on Bashirul’s body was recovered by police. After post mortem it was handed over to the crusher owner. The Muslim owners and the Owners’ Association fully controlled by the Muslims thought, enough is enough. It will be difficult for them to run the units and make profit if the tribals are not taught a lesson. Moreover, they are absolutely unwilling to stop sexually exploiting the tribal women as if it is their birth right. Therefore they planned the strategy. They brought a large number of Muslim criminals from outside. On 22 April, they took out a huge procession in the name of ‘condolence procession’ through the tribal villages. Most unfortunately, the Muslim labourers joined the sinister design of the Owners’ Association, no need to mention for their community affinity. Police was informed. They were there.


It did not turn out to be a ‘condolence procession’. It was a pistol wielding rampaging procession. It passed through 6 tribal villages. The rampaging processionists looted all the 6 villages at gunpoint. There were very little to loot. So, they were not satisfied. Hence they sprinkled petrol on the mud houses and burnt those houses down. They beat up and tortured the hapless villagers and molested the women. They also plundered the livestock of the poor tribals. In Sagarbandi village, Dhatu Hembrom deposited Rs. 12,000 for his daughter’s marriage. The whole amount was looted by the rampaging Muslim mob. The villages were Sagarbandi, Chanda, Pachami, Natungram, Mothrapahari and Harmadanga. To save their lives, all villagers fled away. One Motilal Maddi, aged 40 plus, could not escape. He was brutally killed stoned to death. His brother Mangal Maddi and Kabiraj Murmu were seriously injured. And all these happened in front of police. It should be mentioned here that the Muslim owners of these illegal units are protected by the ruling CPIM. Hence police was mute spectator.


About 3000 tribal villagers had to flee fearing for their life. Many tribals are still missing. When the Hindu Samhati team visited the affected area on 26 April, they saw some villagers were returning.


After this massacre, the tribal people put up a strong resistance. They formed groups with their traditional weapons, i.e., machetes, axes and bow and arrows. They attacked the quarries and stone crushers. Now, all the Muslim labourers and owners and management staff fled away. At least half a dozen of them were killed in flight by arrows. According to Sunil Soren and Rabin Soren of Birbhum Aadibasi Gaunta, two Muslim miscreants Kalu Seikh and Anarul Seikh were killed trying to make bombs.


Now the situation is tense. The battle line is clearly drawn. Non tribal Hindus of the area are in full sympathy with the tribals’ struggle for self respect. They are lending their helping hand to the tribals despite the losses incurred by them for closure of the units. On the other side are all the Muslim owners, staff, labourers and local Muslim villagers. The corrupt govt. officers are on their (Muslim) side.


Now the situation is extremely tense. All the quarry and crusher units are closed and empty. As the houses of the tribals have been burnt and looted, relief camps and community kitchens have been put up. Groups of armed tribal youths are guarding all tribal villages and entry points round the clock. The area of tribal agitation is expanding everyday because the problems are similar everywhere.


Mainly 3 organisations are leading the agitation – ‘Birbhum Aadibasi Gaunta’, ‘Adibasi Raksha Mancha’ and ‘Majhi Pargana Daichi’. Hindu Samhati team visited the area, distributed medicine and assured the tribal leaders of all kind of help.


It should be mentioned here that, though Birbhum is not a border district, its Muslim population crossed 35 percent in 2001 (0 – 6 year age group Muslim children population was 41.15%). In Mohammadbazar block, the Muslim population was 29.03% in 2001. What signal comes out of 2011 census, it is yet to be seen. In this district, Nalhati and Muraroi blocks have already turned Muslim majority.


Apart from Kamaal Khan, Nazir Hussain Mallik, Musharraf Khan, Salauddin, Azim Seikh, etc. organized the attack on tribals.

TRIBAL WOMEN MIGRATED TO JHARKHAND

The poor Hindu tribal women are regularly sexually exploited and raped by Muslim goons all over West Bengal. But in recent months the matter has become so worse in the Mohammadbazar area in Birbhum district that after last two days incidents, tribal organisations from Jharkhand had to intervene to protect the honor of their womenfolk.


The West Bengal administration has been miserably failed in this regard. From the response and attitude of the police officers notwithstanding what they say, the tribals are convinced that this administration possesses no will power to take any decisive steps to protect them from the onslaught of the powerful and rich Muslim miners and their Islamist goons. So the tribal mukhias/leaders sent SOS to neighbouring Jharkhand. The response is prompt and quick. The AJSU (All Jharkhand Student's Union) leaders of Jharkhand sent their representatives to Mohammadbazar to gauge the seriousness of the situation. Receiving report from these representatives, they sent buses directly from Jharkhand to Mohammadbazar on 23rd midnight. On 24th April morning, at least four busloads of tribal Hindu women from Mohammadpur have been shifted to Jharkhand. Two Maruti vans (omni) loaded with tribal Hindu youth escorted those women out of peril.


Police in West Bengal is completely aware in know of this development. But they have not tried to stop them from migrating to Jharkhand, they (police) are relieved by this.


Hindu Samhati will be sending a team to investigate the incident and offer total support to the Hindus of Birbhum who are affected."Today (25 April) me and my team are going to Birbhum." said Tapan Ghosh, president of Hindu Samhati. "Tomorrow we will attempt to enter the affected tribal villages of the area. From media reports it has been known that the Muslim goons are checking there for every outsider and media person. So, by the will of Ishwar we will persevere and do our best to protect our women and honor of Birbhum's Hindus."

Hindu Villagers Attacked by Muslim Mafia in Birbhum, West Bengal

Suri: One person was killed and several were injured in a clash at several Hindu tribal-dominated villages in Birbhum’s Mohammad Bazaar, the heart of the stone mining belt, on Thursday.

A Muslim mob, reportedly backed by the local stone crushers and mine owners (all Muslims), launched an attack on the Hindu villages early in the morning. The attack was reportedly in retaliation to the killing of a corrupt Muslim stone crusher supervisor on Monday.

The Hindu villages have seen simmering tension for the past couple of months, with villagers alleging that poor tribals were exploited and their land snatched away by the Muslims in the stone-crushing industry. They had also been complaining that villagers were often injured during blasting in stone mines. Also, there has been rampant compalints of Hindu women being attacked and assaulted by Muslim activists along the whole mining belt in West Bengal and Jharkhand.

On Monday night, a supervisor of a stone crushing unit, Basirul Seikh (50, an Muslim and known Hindu baiter), was killed by a group of villagers at Talbandi. Though Basirul worked in a stone product company, he recently procured a plot of land to set up a stone mine in the area. His brother, Jamirul, alleged that his elder brother was summoned to resolve a dispute over the plot with some locals. He reached the house of one Debu Hansda, with whom he was acquainted. Suddenly, a group of armed villagers attacked Basirul and hacked him to death. Both the brothers were involved in various anti-social activities and often conspired with Muslims in the area to torture and molest local Hindu tribal women.

Early on Thursday morning, thousands of people — labourers and villagers backed by stone crushing unit owners — gathered at a place near Sagarbandhi village, said police. The heavily armed mob rushed to Talbandhi and Sagarbandhi, which is dominated by Santhal tribals. More than 100 thatched houses were set on fire, people were dragged out of their homes and beaten up mercilessly and bombs hurled indiscriminately. Women were molested and raped, children were not spared.

Though it took some time for the initial shock to go away, the tribal Hindu victims — numbering thousands — regrouped and started attacking the nearby stone crusher units, many of them owned by Muslim mining mafia bosses. A weighbridge and some crushers were set ablaze. The situation was so tense that police could not enter the trouble zone initially. It was only after six hours that senior officers — District Magistrate Saumitra Mohan, DIG, Burdwan range, Jagmohan, SP Rabindranath Mukherjee and ASP Farhat Abbas — managed to get in with force backup.

The angry tribals surrounded them for some time. Two injured Hindu men — Mangala Murdi and Kabiraj Murmu, who received serious bomb injuries — were taken to Suri hospital in serious condition. A large team — including combat force and EFR jawans — was deployed in the area, but stray clashes continued to occur in some areas. The forces discovered the body of a Hindu villager, Motilal Tudu, from Sagarbandhi.

The media, too, was not allowed into the villages. A cameraperson who tried to enter was chased out. The District Magistrate said: “We are discussing the situation with villagers. The villagers are cooperating with us.” When asked whether they were encircled by the villagers, he denied it. According to sources, however, senior police officers and the DM were kept sitting under a tree in Sagarbandhi.

The District Magistrate said that they would distribute relief materials and that the district administration would help the villagers to reconstruct the destroyed homes. The district administration has called an all-party meeting at Suri on Thursday evening.

Najir Hossain Mallik (a known Islamist), the president of Panchami Stone Mines and Owners Association, said: “We, the owners, were not at all involved in the attack. We have requested the administration to bring back peace at any cost.” Mr. Mallik is known as 'Mr Terror' in the area and the non-Muslim crowd in the area has expressed serious concerns about this man and his unholy Islamic nexus.

Islamic youth attack Hindus at a Barrackpore Sports Center

Incident report 16th April, 2010.

At the Barrackpur Sports Complex ground in Barrackpur town in Warless Gate Royal Park area, players (both male and female) were practicing, some Muslim boys (aged between 16 and 22), sitting beside the playing fields, started whistling and taunting on the female players of the club. This eve-teasing is a regular phenomenon there. Then the Muslim boys called a female player named Dona and pressed her to give her and her friends (all girls) mobile numbers. Dona was scared. Somehow she fled away from that corner of the ground, they started shouting ‘WE WILL GO TO YOUR HOUSES. WE’LL SIT ON YOUR BEDS, and WE WILL DO-------‘

Hearing this, other fellow Hindu players, who were warming up there, protested against this. They too were slapped and thrashed by the hooligans. For protection all the players took shelter inside the Club building.
Then at around 6.15 pm, about 50-60 boys (age 16 – 22) came and entered the club building, specially in the bathrooms and the girls' dress changing room. The intruder boys started beating everyone of them black and blue.

5 – 6 girl players were severely injured. Among them 2 Hindu girls, named Puja Singha (17) and Dolly Biswas (14) were mercilessly beaten up.

Puja Singha, who was admitted to a local hospital Sarada Nursing Home for 2 days told the HS visiting team members, “I was mainly beaten up on my breast region, they stood on my breast and kicked me up.” When the correspondent asked her, who were those boys and whether she knows anyone of them? She replied that all of them were Muslim boys from Mohanpur (Chopkathalia) Masjid Para. Puja Singha also said that earlier too these boys used to taunt and whistle upon them, and they (the girls) complained to the club members and secretary about this.

On 18.04.10 HS visiting team members met the club authority and asked them about this incident.

Club Secretary Ajay Barman Roy, a local CPI(M) leader, asked our representatives not to write anything that will prevent Muslim boys from playing on this ground. When he was asked why he did not prevent the Muslim boys when they were teasing and insulting the girl players for so long, he replied that he can’t say anything more and he suggested to ask Bishnupada Chaki, a senior member of the sports forum, about the detail.

When contacted, Bishnupada Chaki’s face was pale due to fear. He said that suddenly 50-60 people came and started looting and demolishing the Sports Complex properties. The club authority requested them not to do so, but they didn’t pay hid to them. Chaki said, the hooligan boys have beaten up the female players severely, specially on the breast region. Then Bishnupada Chaki said that some senior members from Masjid Para namely Salam(36), Kalam(38) and Moba removed them after the incident.
Salam, who is also a local CPIM leader, asked the club members not to report the incident to the police. He also started removing the signs of destruction in the Sports Complex building. The local people agitated over it and then only he stopped doing so.

The Sports Complex / Club authority made a general complaint to Titagarh Police Station, without naming any culprit out of fear. The G.D. no. is 1211 dt. 16.04.10. They lodged a written complain to the Addl. Superintendent of Police of North 24 Parganas district on 18.04.10. They informed the matter to the local Panchayat Pradhan Premchand Biswas (CPIM) and Barrackpur Municipality Chairman Bijoli Kanti Mitra (CPIM).

At the time of the incident, one Muslim boy named Imran protested the misbehaviour of the other Muslim boys. He was also beaten up by fellow Muslims.

It was extremely difficult for our representatives to collect the detail information as the local people and club members are scared by both the Muslim hooligans and CPI(M) cadres. That Mohanpur Panchyat and the Sports Complex is totally controlled by CPIM. CPIM is ruling the area since long. They can threaten, suppress and silence the Hindus. But they are absolutely impotent in case of protecting the honour of Hindu women from the rapacity of Muslim goons. And they made the administration absolutely impotent like them.

HINDU TEMPLE VANDALISED, RELIGIOUS FESTIVAL ATTACKED

The onslaught of resurgent Islamic faith (thanks to West Bengal’s Islamic custodians like Trinamool Congress) on Hindus in Bengal is unabated and as part of the same series, the age-old Shiva Temple at Pagla Tala in Haringhata P.S. (Police Station) area of Nadia District, famous for holding Pagol Thakurer Mela for centuries right from the time of Raja Krishnachandra Roy, becomes the latest target of the Muslims.

On 28.03.10 at around 7 p.m, when the congregation was at full blast, a violent crowd of approx 400 Muslim goons strongly-armed, with sinister designs, usurped the vicinity and ransacked the entire gathering along with local shops and the Shiva Temple (Pagol Thakurer Mandir) was destroyed, also destroyed were the Idols of Godess Kali , Laxmi , Saraswati , Mansa and also of Lord Krishna and Ganesh.

The Muslim mob also severely damaged and looted the shops (25 nos. approx.) of the Hindu people, bodily hurt the Hindu people and looted their belongings, for example, money, jewels, mobile phones, etc. They looted 26 bicycles of the visitors, 20 plastic chairs and 40 bamboo sticks used for barricades of the mela.

As a mark of protest against the humiliation of Hindus, road blockades were held at the behest of Hindu community leaders. On 30/03/10 morning, local Hindus formed 4 to 6 groups of 300 to 400 people in each group and blocked 5 roads leading to the Khudar Mela, about 3 km away from this temple, organised by the Muslims. The Hindus’ protest and road block was so successful that the Khudar Mela of the Muslims, which was scheduled for that day was unable to take place. Tension prevails in the local area.

Names of the severely injured persons :

1) Sunil Singhadar (right eye fatally damaged), (2) Jagadish Goldar, (3) Sankar Sarkar, (4) Joydeb Roy, (5) Sujoy Mandal, (6) Uddhab Goldar, (7) Sunil Singha, (8) Ajit Goldar, (9) Tapan Roy, (10) Manik Goldar, (11) Panchugopal Mandal.

Among those, Ajit Goldar and Sunil Singhadar were mercilessly beaten up in the Mela Committee office. The Muslim rampaging mob beaten up Manik Goldar and looted wrist watch, mobile phone and money from him. Beside the above mentioned persons, many unknown temple disciples and volunteers were mercilessly beaten up by the fundamentalist Muslims.

When they were destroying the idols of the temple, Smt. Renuka Bakshi, Priestess of the temple protested. She was threatened that she would be killed if she did not keep quiet.

The attack started at about 7 pm. Mela Committee repeatedly informed the Haringhata Police Station over phone. But the reply came from the police (a) there was not enough police personnel, (b) they have no car to go, (c) there was no petrol/diesel to run the jeep, etc. etc.

About 5 hours after the incident started, police came. Seeing the seriousness of the incident, they arrested 14 Muslims from nearby Muslim village Mitrapur Muslim Para. But under pressure of local Trinamool Congress leaders Biswajit Roy, Nemai Das and Chitta Das, they all were released next day.

Police took away with them all the broken idols to the police station ignoring the objection of local people. This act of police is totally irreligious and against the rituals of Sanatan Dharma.

On 31^st March when a Representative Team of Hindu Samhati led by Advocate B.N.Roy and Sujit Maity thoroughly visited the area and then went to the Haringhata Police Station, police absolutely refused to give them any information. Officer in Charge and Investigating Officer (I.O.) of the case did not meet with the members of the team.

The Hindus of the area are feeling absolutely insecure and threatened. An exodus of Hindus from the area is just a matter of time.
